Heading to Virginia Beach

I have not been to my hometown in 10 years!!. On Thursday, I had for the day. My planned itinerary:

1. My old school, Norfolk Academy
2. My old house and neighborhood
3. The beach and boardwalk
4. some local shopping

Cincinnati

The trip to Ohio ended up in Cincinnati at a McDaniel wedding. I actually went home to Todd Smartt's wedding back in Huntersville.

More Cedar Point

Cedar Point

The clear highlight of the summer vacation to Ohio was Cedar Point. It was an incredible partk and we had great weather (30 minutes of light rain, a little muggy but probably 78). We had so mucg fun. As huge Disney folks, Cedar Point was a great experience for all.

for Huck, CP has great kids rides, with two very large kids areas.

for Ruth, she and I rode the water rides to end the evening over and over in our bathing suits. We were soaked to the bone and laughed.

For Anna, big roller coasters. CP has the most amazing roller coaster selection.

for Mom and Dad, a great chance to laugh, celebrate life and have some fun.

BTW, Ginny and the girls bought season passes to Carowinds which is owned by Cear Point. They got into this park and the Kings Island outisde Cincinnati free

The Amish

Several pictures of the Amish; they believe that if you capture a picture of their faces they lose their soul. We saw horse and buggies a great deal, especially where we stayed out in the country. View neat

Sojourner's Lodge

Our first stop in Ohio was in the Amish country. Ginny found this really neat lodge in the country away from the bustle, Sojourners lodge (http://www.bbonline.com/oh/sojourners/). It was in the heart of the Amish farm country. I sat outside one evening and watched several Amish families working on their farms into the evening.


This spot was one of the most peaceful places I have been in quite a while

West Virginia Summer 2007

On the way to Ohio, we spent the night in West Virginia. We stayed at at ACE (http://www.aceraft.com/in the chalet here.

Saturday we spent the day on the waterfront playing.


On Sunday, Anna, Ruth and I went done the Upper New River. It was fun but hot.

July 4th trip to Beach

The family spent the week of July 4th at North Myrtle Beach in my parent's condo. It was very crowded at the beach but we had a great trip. It was one of the best beach trips in a long time for our family. The kids are eating donuts

McD's wedding

Mom and Son at McD's wedding; we had a great time the this weekend and we thrilled to play a small part.

Montreat 2007

Ginny and the kids went to Montreat, NC for a week. Ginny rents a house for the week, and the kids all go to day camp during the week.

For our family, this is the first real trip of the summer and a great way to kick off the summer.

The kids have a great time at camp and some of the counselors remembered them.

For Ginny, it is a time or rest, reading and reflection among the mountains. For her, the mountains it is a place for spiritual retreat.

Yeah, I stayed home with the pets and played 5 rounds of golf.

Ruth had an incredible experience. Her camp spent the night overnight camping. It was an great experience for her. Very brave camp counselors.

This is the last days of school at Cornelius for Anna, with her teacher Mrs. Reader. Anna made all As this year and we are so proud of her!!!
